Chapter 51

The tall pine trees stretch up to the sky as I walk alongside Sheena on a quiet country road. The trees stand like old sentinels, guarding the road and those who walk it. Their branches sway gently in the breeze, releasing a fresh pine scent that fills the air. The chirping of birds forms a calming background melody, as if the trees themselves are singing.

“Sheena,” I say. I look into her eyes. “I’ve been thinking about those four hitmen.”

Her face is neutral as she looks back at me, waiting for me to continue.

“The police discovered them because they wrecked their cars in a mysterious white fog that appeared out of nowhere,” I said. “Did you do that?”

Sheena doesn’t look away. “Yes, Tim. I created that fog to protect you. It hurt no one, except the men who intended to take your life.”

I look at the ground as I walk, trying to process this. “Will I… Will someone kill me? Will I leave my children behind?”

Sheena stops walking and turns to face me. She takes my hands in hers. “Tim, it’s not your time. You won’t be leaving your children. I promise.”

The weight that’s been pressing on my chest for weeks seems to lift slightly.

“Thank you, Sheena,” I say. We stand there for a moment, surrounded by the peaceful forest.

“It’s time to fly,” Sheena says. Sheena launches into the air, her feet leaving the ground effortlessly. I follow suit, feeling the familiar sensation of flight. As we rise above the treetops, the view is breathtaking. The vast expanse of forest stretches out beneath us, a sea of green punctuated by the country road we were just walking on.

The world below looks peaceful as we fly side by side.
